Crisis Refuge
Safe, supported accommodation for young men and women
Crisis Refuge is a 4-bedroom facility that provides short or long term crisis accommodation to young men and women between the ages of 14 and 17 years. The young people receive 24-hour support and are provided their own air-conditioned room and supply of personal hygiene products and fresh linen. The young people share kitchen facilities and participate in the making of daily meals. Additionally, there is availability of bathroom, laundry and lounge facilities, WIFI and an outdoor area. The young people are expected to attend school or some form of work activity.
During their stay at the Refuge, young people are provided support through comprehensive case management and mentorship that helps identify and work towards goals, addresses their health, education, and income needs as well as facilitating the development of appropriate life skills and re-engagement with family where appropriate.
The young people are also supported to;
- Build social connections and actively engage in the wider community
- Enhance employability skills
- Sustain tenancy where necessary
- Address their mental health needs
- Manage banking and budgeting requirements
- Be involved in recreational activities
- Connect culturally
- Navigate challenging social/behavioural problems
- Access healthcare services and other specialised services
- Build strategies to navigate family/domestic violence
- Obtain and maintain government allowances
