The ASYASS Youth Housing Program provides affordable semi-independent accommodation for a period of 12 months to young men and women aged 16 to 24 years. The program currently manages eight properties located across Alice Springs. Referral pathways are often accessed by other support services or are self -referred.
This Housing Program offers tenancy to young people that have limited experience in living independently, low-income status, may be unable to reside with family and are at risk of homelessness or are homeless. Through supported case management, the young people are encouraged to develop skills encompassing rental requirements, rental payments, and rental inspections. Additionally, they are encouraged to develop strong tenancy skills to enable them opportunity to secure and maintain future public or private housing. The young people also have opportunity to re-engage in education, training or employment, as well as develop and strengthen life skills required to establish themselves independently. Involvement with family is also encouraged and supported by ASYASS staff where appropriate.
