Dr Kudakwashe Tuwe (Tuwe) originally from Zimbabwe, is the 6th child (twin) of his father’s first wife, in a family of 23 siblings born to five different mothers. Yes!!!! you heard it right – 23 official siblings 😍. His formative childhood life was deeply influenced and shaped by his mother. Tuwe says “My greatest life-hero is my mother, a strong believer in human rights and social justice principles”. Tuwe lived and worked in New Zealand (NZ) for 23 years. Dr Tuwe has more than 20 years’ experience of managing complex community development programs across government, private, NGOs, and Indigenous sectors. In addition to Community Development & Engagement experience, he has worked in diversified industries such as Banking, Accounting, Human Resources Management, Marketing/Insurance, Health Promotion and Disability. Amongst others Tuwe held senior managerial positions in NZ such as: Regional Manager – Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships – Ministry for Ethnic Communities, National Community Engagement Manager – Statistics NZ (Census), National Programme Manager – NZ AIDS Foundation and Human Resources Lead Advisor – NZ Iwi Trust.
Before relocating to NZ, Tuwe worked in Zimbabwe in managerial roles in areas/industries such as Human Resources Management, Banking, Accounting and Marketing. In terms of academic and professional qualifications Dr Tuwe has, inter alia, the following: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Higher Diploma – Human Resources Management (HRM), Diploma – HRM, Diploma in Accounting, Certificate – Te Reo Māori (Levels 1 & 2), Certificate (level 2) – Health and Wellbeing and Three Postgraduate Certificates in Research Methodologies.
During his spare time Tuwe is involved in Community Development work, going to Church and helping university students with their research work.
